2018 01 18 Training women group 1 ik

The Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve in collaboration with the Faculty of Forestry of Tadulako University in Central Sulawesi, supported by GIZ, conducted a series of trainings on conservation and planting orchids, and business development for women groups in Karunia village on 18-19 January. The purpose of this activity is to support the conservation of orchids, improving skills of women in planting orchids and business development so that the participants can create additional income for their households. From Karunia village, 28 women joined the training. Previously, similar trainings have been conducted with 28 women in Rejeki village.

Trainings will also be carried out in other villages in the area, such as Berdikari, Ampera and Makmur; which are located close to the Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve.

After the training, every women group will establish and maintain a pilot nursery of orchids in their respective villages. Following the wishes of the village government and the women groups, there will be an orchid festival for promotion and assessment of the practices of each women grousp at the end of the facilitation process in March.
