2022 04 27 Training for Kampongs Facilitators Tanah Papua mb 4

In order to facilitate the implementation of joint activities in a number of FORCLIME-supported villages across Tanah Papua, nine facilitators have been jointly selected by main local partners working within the provinces of Papua and West Papua, i.e. Provincial Forestry Services and conservation agencies. Selected facilitators attended a recent introductory training session that was held prior to their engagement with the programme’s implementation. The training session took place on 25 – 27 April 2022 in Manokwari, West Papua and was coordinated with a number of main local partners located within the provinces of Papua and West Papua, including the Forestry Services of Papua and West Papua, various conservation agencies (including Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam) and the Wasur National Park.

Ultimately, nine selected facilitators will be posted to FORCLIME supported villages, specifically Bikar and Emaus in Tambrauw Regency, Haha and Wendi in Sorong Selatan Regency, Babrongko, Dosay and Tablasupa in Jayapura Regency, and Wasur and Yanggandur in Merauke Regency. Each village will be supported by a single facilitator.

During the training session, the facilitators learned about GIZ in general, FORCLIME 4.0, forest management units and social forestry, and also received input on project management and assistance (institutional, area, business management), as well as on the principles of participatory village planning and Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC). In addition, the facilitators were also presented with information on GIZ’s financial procedures.
