2022 05 24 Coordination Meeting Universitas Ottow Geissler Papua tr 1

In order to prepare the parties concerned for the implementation of priority programmes during 2022, the University of Ottow Geissler and FORCLIME held a coordination meeting on 24 May 2022 in the Rectorate Meeting Room of the University of Ottow Geissler in Jayapura, Papua. The meeting was opened by the Chancellor of the University of Ottow Geissler Papua (UOGP), Mr Jerry Sawai, M.Sc., PhD. and discussed the development of a number of jointly initiated programmes, including the following:

  • Development of a GIS laboratory as a center of excellence at the University of Ottow Geissler Papua. The location for the GIS laboratory has already been prepared, while the lab’s institutional structure will involve all of the university’s faculties.
  • The Nyei Toro Educational Forest, an educational forest management institutional structure that will involve UOGP, local government and the Necheibe customary community, is currently being prepared.
  • FORCLIME will admit two students onto its 2022 internship programme through a selection process. This internship programme will be integrated through the independent campus method (Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka (MBKM).
  • UOGP has created a students’ association organization (Sylva UOGP) that is set to become a member of the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA). All of the membership requirements have already been met in this regard, while a registration application has already been submitted and is currently being processed.

FORCLIME is highly strategic programme and supports programme development at the University of Ottow Geissler Papua through capacity building,” explained Vice Chancellor I, George M. Satya, M.Sc., PhD.
