Learning Management Systems (LMS) have become a highly important tool within the context of modern education and training. One of the most popular and widely used LMS platforms by various educational institutions and organizations around the world is Moodle. This platform boasts various features and functions that enable managers and administrators to manage, deliver and track learning activities efficiently. To utilize Moodle’s full capabilities, users must ensure that they have a full understanding of the governance and administration of this platform. To promote such understanding, the Environment and Forestry HR Training Center (Diklat LHK) and the Environment and Forestry Training Center (BP LHK), supported by FORCLIME, held a recent training session on the use of Moodle by LMS Administrators and LMS Training Managers, who attended the session from Training Centers and BP LHK located throughout Indonesia. The training session was opened by the Head of the Training Development – Environment and Forestry HR Training Center, Dr. Gamin, and was held from 9 - 11 September 2023 at the HR Training Center in Bogor, West Java. The session was attended by 20 participants.

During the training, participants learned about basic Moodle configurations and settings, including user management, access rights and various different roles. Participants also gained an understanding of the utilization of Moodle's many features, including course creation, grading and feedback settings, and the monitoring of student progress. With this knowledge, participants should be able to use Moodle more effectively and provide optimal learning experiences for users in the future.

“With updated training materials now being available from trainers, as well as the ability of trainers to answer highly technical questions, new insights can be gained into a more effective use of LMS, including configuration and basic Moodle settings,” explained Purnama Sofyan, an LMS administrator working at the Environment and Forestry HR Training Center.

In the wake of this training session, participants are expected to increase their operational efficiency, improve the overall user experience and achieve desired learning objectives.
